지역경제성장과 생명보험 금융역할의 인과관계에 관한 실증분석

본 연구의 목적은 국민경제성장 및 지역경제성장과 금융의 인과관계를 실증분석으로 확인하고 지역금융 활성화의 중요성을 논하는데 있다. 이를 위해 예금은행과 더불어 생명보험을 대상으로 금융의 국민경제효과 측면과 아울러 지역경제효과 측면에서 16개 시도의 지역단위별로 분석하였다. 이 과정에서 문헌연구 외에 실증연구방법으로 공적분관계 분석과 오차수정모형에 의한 검정방법을 사용하여 인과관계를 분석하였다. 실증분석결과, 대다수의 지역에서 지역 산업생산지수에 대해 지역 예금액과 지역 대출금이 인과관계를 보여주는 것으로 나타나, 금융이 국민경제성장에 미치는 긍정적 효과가 확인되었다. 이는 예금은행뿐만 아니라 생명보험이 보이는 지역금융의 긍정적 지역경제효과를 보여주는 결과이다. 또한 이것은, 경제낙후지역에서의 낮은 금융자산 수준은 자금공급의 경색을 낳고 실물경제의 저성장으로 이어지는 악순환이 거듭될 수도 있음을 시사해준다. 따라서 지역경제의 선순환과 지역균형발전을 위해서는 경제낙후지역의 지역개발을 촉진시킬 수 있는 기초자원 배분의 선결 외에도, 지역금융자금의 가용성 증대와 아울러 시장에서 비교우위를 갖는 성장동력산업과 사회간접자본으로 국내자원과 외화자원이 효율적으로 배분되도록 하는 지역금융의 자율화 촉진과 지역금융자금의 지역내 환류가 최대한 보장되어야 한다.
Abstract
The primary purpose of this study is to examine the causal relationship between regional economic growth and financial role of life insurance and deposit bank in 16 korean regions, and to obtain policy implication of the result. For this purpose the techniques of co-integration and error-correction model are used in the empirical analysis. It employs monthly data of index of industrial product, loan and deposit covering the period of 2000.1. - 2005.10. To sum up major highlights of the analytical results, the results of estimation are statistically significant and effectively explain that there is causal relationship between financial role of life insurance and regional economic growth in most regions. This relationship implies that the regional financing role of life insurance has affected regional economic growth. In other words, life insurance industry has contributed to the regional economic growth in korea. Therefore we should consider and practice various schemes to vitalize the role of regional financing in the process of regional economic growth such as supplying funds necessary to the investment activities of firms, providing financial services, and diffusing various business capacities to firms.
