본 연구는 병원규모, 병원의 조직문화, 균형성과정보사용과 병원의 경영성과와의 인과관계를 실증적으로 분석해 보고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 전국 40여개 대학병원과 30여개 종합병원의 내부구성원들을 대상으로 설문지를 배포, 회수하여 실증 분석한 결과 첫째, 병원조직의 규모는 병원의 조직문화와 균형성과정보사용에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이는 병원조직의 경우, 규모와 관계없이 대형병원이든 중소병원이든 각각의 조직 특유의 문화를 지니고 있고, 또한 조직의 비전이나 전략 수립 시, 구성원의 성가평가 시 균형성과정보를 많이 사용하고 있음을 의미하는 것이다. 둘째, 병원의 조직문화는 균형성과정보사용, 그리고 병원의 경영성과와 정(+)의 유의한 관계가 있음이 확인되었다. 이는 균형성과정보를 이용하여 병원조직의 경영성과를 향상시키기 위해서는 적합한 조직문화가 그 역할을 수행할 수 있음을 시사해준다. 셋째, 균형성과정보를 사용하는 것과 병원의 경영성과와도 유의한 관련성이 있는 것으로 분석되었다.
Abstract
This study empirically investigates the causal relationship among hospital size, organization culture, BSC information usage and hospital performance. There have been only a few studies which investigated causal relationships among these variables in general hospital organizations. A structural model and several hypotheses were developed regarding the relationships. Based on the collected data form 75 hospitals, structural model was analyzed with AMOS 5.0. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, hospital size had a positive significant effect on organization culture and BSC information usage. Second, organization culture had a positive effect on BSC information usage and hospital performance. Finally, BSC information usage had a positive significant effect on hospital performance. At the end of the paper, managerial implication and future research directions are discussed.
