현대 디자인의 경향과 그 사회적 의미

초록
후기자본주의 사회로 규정되고 있는 오늘날의 사회는 문화적으로 포스트모더니즘이라 지칭되고 있거니와 문화산업이 중추를 이루고 있는 사회이기도 하다. 제품 아닌 문화가 국가 경제의 근간이 된 사회로서 여기에 디자인의 의미와 가치는 크게 변모되었다. 그것은 무엇보다 경제 창출 수단으로서의 디자인 위상 변화인데 그 문화적 기능이 크게 강화되었으며 종류도 다양해졌을 뿐 아니라 양식 또한 크게 변모되었다. 기술문명의 질적 변화와 발전에 따라, 그리고 이미지의 중요성의 부상에 따라 현대디자인은 미니멀리즘과 주관주의적 경향을 강하게 드러내고 있는데 이것은 소비사회로 지칭되는 오늘날의 현실에 대한 반영으로서의 그것이다. 이것은 디자인이 지니고 있는 형태성에서 비롯된다. 특히 산업사회의 전개와 더불어 비롯된 디자인에서의 근대적 양식이 바로 공장제 생산 방식에 부응하는 물적(物的) 형태어라면 1970년대 이후 전개되기 시작한 오늘날의 디자인 양식은 바로 소비를 중심으로 하는 문화산업의 등장에 조응하는 것이다. 이것은 근대 미술에서의 형태어와 동일한 양상을 띠고 있다. 그러나 이제 예술을 대신하여 사회적 조형이 된 오늘날의 디자인 양식과 문화는 오히려 수단적이고 소모적인 것으로서 그 역기능이 크게 증대되었다.
Abstract
The society of today, so-called post-capitalism world, is being named as the post modernism in sense of culture. And the culture-centered industry is pivotal. Not products, but cultures have become the artery of country's economy. As a consequence, meaning and value of the design has been changed profoundly. Above all, the position of the design has been changed due to its function by means of creating economy. As a result, strengthening in cultural function, diversifying in kinds, and transforming in style has risen. According to quality development and change in the technical civilization and emergence of importance in image, the design of today tends to expose its minimalism and subjectivity. Such facts are the reflection of today's reality, the consumer society. It is originated from the nature of design's form. Particularly, with the growth of industrial society, the style in design had been a material language for satisfying production method in factory system, while design style of today began to unfold since 1970s has been for meeting the appearance of the consumption-oriented culture industry. This takes on the same aspect with the language of form in modern arts. However, the style and culture in today's design substituting arts on the contrary, has increased negative effects such as tool and exhaustion.
