The smart phone market has posted continual growth worldwide. Also, the Korean smart phone market entered the age of the use of 30 million smart phones in 2012. The technology and design of smart phones is advancing daily. In particular, unlike with existing mobile phones, the user environment of smart phones has shown varied appearances through new functions, such as touch screens and applications. This study conducted research into the design of smart phone cases, which are a representative accessory of smart phones, which have exhibited continued growth and the fast growth trend among digital products. For this, the study aims to produce an outlook for future design through an analysis of the use pattern and purchase beginning with a user’s purchase of a smart phone case. The important points in the smart phone case design are its shape design, material and color. Function and pattern also one of important elements. Most user prefer soft character type of case in general, however, consumers showed higher interest in case design that emphasize the creativity such as the shape of animal characters. Thus case should be designed to reflect the sensibility and emotion. In accordance with the continuous development of technology of smart phone, Smart phone case should be designed according to user's usability and environment. Since smart phone case is fashion and trend conscious product, color trend research and development of new materials is also a constant need.
