한국 회계학 교수인력의 수급에 관한 기초연구
A Fundamental Study on the Supply and Demand of Korean Accounting Professors

초록
최근 급변하고 있는 대학환경과 더불어 회계학 교수인력의 수요와 공급요인도 변화하고 있다. 본 연구는 2014년 한국회계학회 40주년을 맞이하여 회계학분야의 교수인력 수요와 공급에 대한 현황을 파악하고 향후 전망을 제시함으로써 안정적이고 원활한 회계학 교수인력 수급이 이루어지도록 기초적인 도움을 주기 위함을 그 목적으로 한다. 본 연구는 전국 4년제 대학교 회계학 분야 전임교수에 대한 자료를 수집하여 2014년 6월을 기준으로 최근 5년간 임용된 전임교원의 성향을 확인하여 최근 회계학 분야의 공급 요인을 분석했다. 그 다음 향후 5년 간 회계학 분야의 은퇴예정자의 특성을 파악하여 향후 회계학 교수인력의 수요 요인을 확인했다. 본 연구에서 수집한 회계학 분야의 전임교원 표본 517명 중 119명(약 23.0%)이 최근 5년 동안 신규 임용되었으며, 신규 임용자는 과거에 비해 해외 박사의 비중이 감소하고 임용연령이 낮아졌으며 임용자의 연구업적 수가 지속적으로 증가하고 있었다. 또한 신규 임용자의 경우 여성의 비율이 높고 재무회계 전공자가 많이 임용되었음을 확인했다. 한편, 회계학 분야의 경우 향후 5년 내에 은퇴하는 전임교원의 수는 102명으로 표본의 19.7%를 차지했다. 은퇴예정자는 해외박사의 비중이 전체 표본에 비해 높았으며, 재무회계 이외의 전공비율이 상대적으로 많았다. 이러한 결과를 종합하면, 최근 5년간 회계학분야의 전임교원이 이미 상당수가 신규 임용되었음에도 불구하고 향후에도 상당한 대기수요가 존재하고 있음을 암시한다. 하지만 최근 대학정원수의 감소 및 대학의 구조조정, 국내 박사취득예정자의 증가로 인한 공급증가 등이 수급예측에 불확실성을 제공할 수 있음을 인지해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
With a rapidly changing situation in universities, supply and demand of accounting professor has been changing. This paper fundamentally investigates future prospects of the supply and demand in the field of accounting. We collect various data of full-time professors and analyze various characteristics of the professors who were first employed during the five years in the field of accounting. We also investigate determinants of supply characteristics of the professors who will retire in the next five years. Our results show that 119 people(23.0%) of 517 full-time professors are first employed during the period 2010-2014. The majority of people with foreign doctoral degree are decreasing in number, but the number of their research and the proportion of female is steadily increasing. On the other hand, the number of full-time accounting professors who will retire in the next five years is 102, about 19.7 percent in the total sample. Our results imply that there will be a growing demand for accounting professors although many people were employed as full-time professors in the past five years. However, other factors such as a continuous decrease in university enrollment quota and consistent increase of doctoral students in the field of accounting may give considerable uncertainty about the future in forecasting supply and demand of accounting professors.
