Jeju Special Self-Governing Province features a well-know travel city with its gorgeous natural environment so in accordance with the image, it needs to implement self-government reflecting those characteristics. To come true such a self-government mirroring its local environmental features, Special Law was introduced in Jeju. Since then, Jeju has been enforcing its self-government. According to Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Law, the purpose is that by satisfying local and historical elements of previous Jeju, it makes sure practical authority of dividing local authorities by installing Jeju Special Self-Governing Province where its high-level autonomous authority is guaranteed based on its self-regulation and responsibility as well as creativity and variety. In accordance with the purpose of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Law, Jeju carries out its autonomy and also does self-governing police, as one of local self-governments. However, it is questionable that the self-governing police matches up with the purpose of guaranteeing high-level autonomous authority. Furthermore, Jeju self-governing police has some limits of mismatching with the original purpose of self-governing police system. For example, Jeju self-governing police is purposed to be responsible for its public security, but current Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Law stipulates that Jeju self-governing police should associate with National Police Institution when it does its business. Given into the duty of self-governing police, in addition, Jeju self-governing police is only in charge of some limited business administrative policemen are supposed to do. Therefore, to be correspondent to the purpose Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Law set in the future, Jeju self-governing police should take accountability for its public security and order by itself.
