구스타프 클림트의 회화 속에 표현된 조형적 특성분석을 통한 네일 디자인에 관한 연구

In this study, nail art designs were created based on the formative characteristics of Gustav Klimt (1862-1918). By analyzing the formative characteristics of Klimt’s works which combined naturalistic figurative elements with abstract stylization to create a new presents both its purpose and significance based upon recent trends in nail art, where new materials and diverse expression techniques are being commercialized. This study focused on motifs derived from patterns, colors, and materials in works that exhibit formative characteristics among Klimt’s works produced between 1876 the year he began his artistic career and 1918 the year he passed away. Based on an analysis of his works, in this study, five nail art designs were created on artificial nails in a two-dimensional composition to express Klimt’s vibrant colors and diverse motif patterns. First, plant stems and the organic curves of Art Nouveau were employed to convey a natural and feminine image. Second, vivid colors, lavish and soft tones, and delicate gold tones were applied. Third, the dimensionality, opulence, and other characteristics of the materials were expressed via I) the hand painting technique using materials such as gel, acrylic paint, polish, artificial jewels, and mother-of-pearl, ii) designs using rhinestones, and iii) gel coloring technique. As a result of the study, I found that nail art designs utilizing the formative characteristics of Gustav Klimt offers direction that can satisfy modern women’s sensibilities and individuality, including feminine designs, bold yet masculine designs, soft yet striking designs, and opulent designs using material characteristics and colors. I look forward to the expansion of the nail market and the emergence of high-quality and diverse nail art designs through research on nail designs inspired by motifs from Fine art, thus, possess the artistic value.
