부산 섬유산업의 지역경제 파급효과 분석

1970년대 우리나라 경제성장을 견인한 것은 수출주도의 섬유산업이었다. 특히, 부산은 근대 섬유산업의 발상지이자 전국 4위의 섬유도시로 여전히 섬유산업이 지역의 주력산업으로 자리잡고 있다. 이에 부산시는 섬유산업을 육성하기 위해 많은 지원을 하고 있으나, 지원정책의 근거가 될 수 있는 부산 섬유산업의 경제적 파급효과에 대한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 따라서 앞으로 지방자치단체의 정책지원이 지속적으로 이뤄질 것으로 예상되는 부산의 섬유산업에 대한 정확한 현황 파악과 지역경제에 미치는 파급효과를 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 본 논문은 2015년도 지역산업연관표를 토대로 섬유산업을 새롭게 분류하고, 전국을 5개 권역으로 나누어 부산 섬유산업의 지역경제 파급효과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 부산 섬유산업의 생산유발효과와 취업유발효과는 높았으나, 부가가치유발효과는 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 전방연쇄효과보다는 후방연쇄효과가 큰 산업으로 분석되었다. 이러한 분석결과를 토대로, 본 연구는 부산의 섬유산업을 지원하기 위한 다양한 정책의 근거자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
In the 1970s, the export-led textile industry drove Korea’s economic growth. In particular, Busan is the birthplace of the modern textile industry and the fourth-largest textile city in the country, and the textile industry is still the main industry in the region. Accordingly, the Busan Metropolitan Government supports the textile industry, but research on its economic effects, which can provide a basis for policy, is insufficient. Therefore, it is necessary to study the current status of Busan’s textile industry, which is expected to continue receiving local government support, and its impact on the regional economy. This study redefines the textile industry based on the 2015 regional input-output tables and analyzes the regional economic effects of Busan’s textile industry by dividing the country into five regions. The analysis shows high production and employment induction effects but low value-added induction effects. Additionally, the industry has a larger backward linkage effect than a forward linkage effect. Based on these analysis results, this study is expected to be used as basic data for various policies to support Busan’s textile industry.
