초록
이 연구의 목적은 프로야구단 ESG 활동의 모범적 사례로 평가받고 있는 일본의 후쿠오카 소프트뱅크 호크스와 국내창원 NC 다이노스의 ESG 준비상황 및 활동결과를 비교⸱분석함으로써 국내 프로야구단의 ESG 현황을 진단하고 ESG 활동 전략에 대한 응용적 시사점을 도출하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 프로스포츠와 ESG를 다룬 선행연구를 분석함으로써 ESG의 개념과 그 중요성을 고찰하고, 프로스포츠의 사회적 기능을 ESG 구성요소 측면에서 논의하였다. 다음으로 일본의 소프트뱅크 호크스와 한국 NC 다이노스 구단의 ESG 활동과 관련된 인터넷 자료, 보고서, 연구논문, 신문, 잡지 등의 자료를 고찰함으로써 프로야구단의 운영 과정에 ESG가 어떤 방식으로 적용될 수 있는지 살펴보았다. 끝으로 두 프로야구단의 ESG 활동을 비교·분석함으로써 국내 프로야구단 ESG의 주요 이슈와 문제점을 확인하고, 프로야구단의 지속가능한 발전을 위한 ESG 방안과 과제를 제시하였다. 본 연구가 국내 프로야구단 ESG에 대한 이해및 이해관계자들의 관심을 제고하고, 국내 프로야구 산업에서의 ESG 정착 및 확산을 위한 정책 방향과 전략과제를수립하는데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to diagnose the ESG status of Korean professional baseball teams and draw implications for ESG activity strategies by comparing and analyzing the ESG activities of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in Japan and the Changwon NC Dinos in Korea, which are regarded as exemplary cases of ESG activities. To this end, this study first examined the concept of ESG and its importance by analyzing previous studies on ESG and professional sports clubs, and discusses the social function of professional sports in terms of ESG components. Next, we examined how ESG can be effectively applied to the management process of professional baseball teams by reviewing internet data, reports, research papers, newspapers, and magazines related to the ESG activities of the SoftBank Hawks of Japan and the NC Dinos of Korea. Finally, by comparing and analyzing the ESG activities of professional baseball teams in the two countries, we identified major issues and problems in the ESG of Korean professional baseball teams and proposed ESG measures and tasks for the sustainable development of professional baseball teams. It is hoped that this study can be used as a basis for enhancing the understanding of ESG in Korean professional baseball teams and stakeholders' interest in ESG, and for establishing strategies to promote ESG in the Korean professional baseball industry
