초록
This study aims to verify and reproduce the costumes of the Baekje Gochwidae members. The Gochwidae (鼓吹隊) is a musical troupe comprising drummers and flutists that historically performed during ceremonial processions, playing their instruments while marching. Recently, it has been revived for local festivals and historical-cultural events, attracting attention as a new tourism element. Established in Buyeo County in 2021, the Baekje Gochwidae has not been extensively researched, particularly regarding its costumes. This study aims to establish a historical foundation for reproducing Baekje Gochwidae costumes, utilizing literary and archaeological sources and referencing the costumes of musicians depicted on the Baekje Gilt-Bronze Incense Burner to capture the structure and characteristics of these outfits accurately. The basic structure of the costumes, consisting of yu, go, and po, served as the foundation for verification and the incorporation of Gochwidae characteristics. Based on this analysis, a modern costume design that balances both the symbolism and practicality of the Gochwidae was proposed. Additionally, synthetic fabrics that replicate the textile characteristics of the Baekje period were selected, and traditional patterns derived from Baekje artifacts were incorporated into the textile design as decorative elements for the costumes. These reproduced costumes can serve as educational materials for local tourists and students, and they can also be utilized in historical and cultural events, offering sustainable tourism content. This study will enhance the academic diversity of Baekje costume research, promote the richness of Baekje culture, and ultimately contribute to the growth of the cultural tourism industry in the Baekje region.
