지속 가능한 사회에서의 새로운 디자인 과제에 대한 연구

This winter of year 2006, the world weather is not normal for the winter. Many countries are warning for the danger of environmental crisis. The result of the first Industrial Revolution is giving back its reports on our current earth. Many things that people have taken for granted may no longer exist in near future. We need to re-evaluate fragile conditions of our environment as well as our finite natural resources and move toward the sustainable society. To achieve sustainable society, we need to move from our current consumption oriented product based well being to context based well being. All the design assignments of sustainable society should consider recycling their technological waste in the closed-loop so that natural ecology's waste equals food could be realized. These assignments in sustainable society should take all three costs of economic, social and environmental; therefore, sustainable design would be beneficial to ecology, economy, and equity. Also, in sustainable society, design cannot be analyzed out of its implications in global context. Design problems in sustainable society should be evaluated globally considering ecological systems on earth, but solved locally considering distinct characteristics of its geographical location and available resources. A new design assignment of sustainable society will have all the above considerations. All the designers in sustainable society, whether product/service designers or digital hardware/software designers, they all should aware of the importance of sustainable society and always consider alternative and effective sustainable solutions in every design assignment.
