Individuals' Response to Information Provided by the Visitiors Bureau

As the role of Visitors Bureaus is to integrate a variety of businesses marketing, they are required to promote destinations and attract potential tourists by stimulating individuals' interest in that area and informing the public of the facilities and attractions a community offers. The overall purpose of this study was to assess individuals' responses to information provided by the Visitors Bureau in order to document whether or not individuals remembered receiving information from the Visitors Bureau, to determine whether or not individuals traveled to the region, and to assess whether the information influenced respondents to (a) extend their stay during their most recent trip to the region or (b) return to the region. The results supported that the Visitors Bureau promoted a community by offering information and improving the perception of the destination. The implications of these findings for individuals' responses to information provided by the Visitors Bureau in association with their information search are discussed.
