시각 커뮤니케이션 디자인에 있어서 타이포그래피의 표현에 관한 연구

초록
디지털 시대의 컴퓨터의 발달과 여러 가지 그래픽 소프트웨어의 등장은 적용방법에 있어 현대 디자인에 많은 변화를 가져왔고 정보전달 매체의 활용 방법에 있어서도 매우 빠른 변화를 보여주고 있다. 인쇄 매체에 따른 종류도 많아져 그에 따른 표현방법도 매우 다양화 되어져가고 있다. 최첨단 기술로 무장된 디지털 매체는 그래픽 디자이너들에게 디자인의 새로운 가능성을 제시해 준다. 현대 타이포그래피의 표현방법은 다양한 소프트웨어의 지원과 디지털의 발달에 따라 그 응용 범위가 매우 방대해지고 있다. 본 연구는 단순히 typography의 의미전달만을 목적으로 하는 것이 아니라 시각전달 매체로서의 기본 아래 typography의 활용방법에 있어 보다 구체적인 시각적 표현을 위하여 색다른 이미지를 표현하고자 여러 유형의 표현방법을 살펴보았으며 이로써 typography의 역할과 기능, 개념을 재해석하였다. 또한 시각요소로서의 typography에 좀더 새로운 의미를 부여하기 위해 기본적 typography를 바탕으로 보다 효율적이고 기능적인 활용방법을 통해 조직화, 체계화시킴으로써 시각적 감동을 줄 수 있고 가치 있는 이미지 표현방법을 제시한다. 또한 여러 가지 표현형식의 타이포그래피 예제를 통해 비주얼 이미지 표현 특성을 비교 분석하였다.
Abstract
Development in computer and appearance of graphic software in digital era carried lots of change in modern design in terms of application method and a rapid change is found in the methods to utilize the information-transmit media. The kinds of printing media were also increased and their expression methods are also diverse. High technology and digital media present new possibilities of design expression to graphic designers. The way of expression of the modern typography is widening due the development of digital technology and dealing with various softwares. This research was reviewed various types of expression methods to express different images for more concrete visual expression in utilization method of typography not for the purpose for simple transmittance of meaning of typography but for the media for visual transmittance, and, from this, role, function, and concept of typography were reinterpreted. In addition, for a newer meaning of typography, the methods to give visual impression and to express valuable images are suggested through organization and systemization of basic typography with a more efficient and functional method to utilize. Then, I propose to present the characteristics of visual image expressions through analysis of several case studies of typography.
