The Analysis of Manual Icon(GUI) Design on the Mobile Product

Mobile life in the modern society is rapidly developing and the mobile instruments making infrastructure of the various cultural areas have already become the daily necessities in our life. These telecommunication instruments, unlike other digital product groups, have tripod of mobile telecommunication companies, phone producers, and consumers. And because the interface in the mobile phone has the various complex functions, it might not be easy for the users to use. Therefore, the necessity of studying the law of icon design, which is transferring the functions that the mobile phones have, is demanding. To analyze the icon design of the phone menu, I tried to consider the theoretical bases and research the cases for the mobile icons in the Korean market. In this research, I analyze the meaning expression patterns of the menu icons, the colors of interfaces, readability, serviceability, originality, flashiconization, and preference for the touchscreen manuals of all brand mobile phones from every producers, such as ANYCALL, CYON, SKY, CURITEL, etc., One of the results of this research was that the picture and image icon designs making of the mobile phone users to recognize directly appeal to consumers by their convenience. And also in this research I could get the conclusion that the Korean producers needed to develop the interfaces stimulating new senses of men besides the seeing and tactile senses.In other words, I would like to suggest new designs for the expecting mobile phone products by the content analysis of design for the mobile phone icons, and to find the new directions for the essential icon research in the Korean mobile industry by recognizing the cutting edge of icon design.
