A Study on Blended Learning as an Efficient Education Method of Corporate

Modern is a society of knowledge informationalization. We require autonomous, creative, and subjective talents who will lead this globalization informationalization age. However, the conversion to the education system which accords with the stream of this age is necessary so as to bring up such leaders. The study was to analyze effects of a blended learning model based on case study approach and to propose implications in appropriately assessing blended learning really for corporate education. In order to accomplish the study, reference data were reviewed. Then, the results of a blended learning program of managers in Korea were analyzed through a kind of systems approach. The methodology of the study was a blended research method which was comprised of quantitative and qualitative approaches. That is to say, an blended methods design by a case study was carried out. The case program was a leadership program of managers in which 111 managers participated. The major results of the study were as follows:First, based on the results from the qualitative analysis, those who experienced in improving leadership capability from blended learning mentioned that on-line education was very effective. Second, the results of quantitative analysis showed that blended learning itself seemed to have significant effects in improving leadership capability in comprehensive diagnosis(t=2.5, df=110, p<.05), others diagnosis(t=3.8, df=110, p<.001), and self diagnosis(t=2.4, df=110, p<.05). The results of retrospective survey showed that both off-line and on-line educations in blended learning program were effective, being appropriately interrelated to each other from the viewpoint of contents and following activities, and met the expectations of participants. Third, the most significant effects of blended learning in leadership education are said to be actual change of actions and activities in leadership capability of the participants to become better than before the managerial performance of the company, good transfer to current job tasks, and implementation of the practice plans. Fourth, the survey and interviews with those who took part in the program of blended learning indicated that the program was effective.
