IT 투자의사결정에 영향을 미치는 비재무적 요인에 관한 연구

Contrary to the general belief that investment decisions are mostly guided by financial factors, such processes are more than often controlled by non-financial factors depending on the industry. This study is to examine what factors determine the investment processes in the IT industry in Korea. A pre-study was conducted through observations and interviews with IT management personnel, which hinted that investments were not a mere financial decision but a much more complex process that involves other than financial variables as well in various stages. In some cases, decisions were heavily affected by non-financial and multidimensional factors. As a result, a hypothesis was set up that multiple variables including non-financial indirect factors might significantly affect the decision outcomes—positive, or, negative attitude toward the intended IT investments. Then the significance of these variables on the investment decisions was to be analyzed. Major contributions of this study to the investment behavior in IT industry can be summarized as follows: Unlike previous studies that focused mostly on factors peculiar to IT industry, this study adopts comprehensive determinants profoundly affecting investment activities across industries. In other words, it views an investment process as a very complicated one that can be better explained by some general factors instead of local factors to a specific industry type.
