Analysis and Development Direction of Design Textbooks Renewed for the 2009 Revision of Curriculum

초록
오늘날 전 국민을 대상으로 하는 디자인 일반교육에 대한 요청과 실행이 활발해지고, 초중고 교육과정에서 디자인 일반교육은 점차 중요도가 높아지고 있다. [2015년 교육과정 개정]을 바탕으로 2018년부터는 새 교과서에 의한 디자인일반교육이 실시될 예정으로, 그 시행에 앞서서, 디자인일반교육의 발전방향을 제시하고자 현재 시행되는 디자인일반교육의 정확한 현황을 [교과과정 분석], 그 교과과정이 반영된 [교과서 분석], 그 교과서를 매개로 교육과정을 가르치는 [교사 분석]으로 나누어 연구하였다. 2016년도 현재 초중고등학교에서 이루어지는 디자인 일반교육은 2009년 개정 후 2011년 개별 과목 고시에 의해 이루어지며, 초중고등학교의 디자인관련 교과서는 초등학교 12개, 중학교11개, 고등학교 일반과목12개, 선택과목7개로 총 42개가 사용 중이며, 각 디자인비중은 초등38%, 중학교36%, 고등학교(심화교과서제외)25%였다. 이외에도 교과서 내 범주별 분석, 7차 개정교과서와의 비교 등 교과서를 분석한 결과, 교육과정과 교과서에서는 디자인의 중요도가 높음을 알 수 있었다. 교사의 디자인역량에 대해서는 초등의 담임교사는 교대의 디자인수업 분석, 중등 미술교사는 임용시험문제 분석을 통하여 분석하였으나, 교과서의 디자인 비중과 달리, 현저히 낮았다. 임용고시과목은 사범대, 교육대학원의 교육에 지대한 영향을 미치기에 매우 중요한 부분이나, 그동안 간과되어온 바가 크며, 이러한 문제를 인식하고 이에 대하여 대안을 제시하고자하였다.
Abstract
The request for practice of general education in design for everyone including children is rapidly increasing. Consequently, the importance of such education is also increasing in the education curriculum of elementary, middle and high school. Based on the 2015 Amendment of the Educational Curriculum, general education in design is to be conducted starting 2018 using the new textbooks. Preceding the renewed general education in design in 2018, we must first analyze the accurate status quo of the current design education curriculum. Therefore, we conducted the research by analyzing through the scopes of educational curriculum, textbook and instructors. As of now in 2016, general design education in elementary, middle and high school is conducted following the 2009 amendments and the 2011 notifications for individual subjects. There are a total of 42 design-related textbooks currently in use in schools; 12 in elementary, 11 in middle school, 12 for high school general subject and 7 for high school elective courses. Within the textbooks, the portion of design is 38% for elementary school, 36% for middle school and 25% for high school (sans advanced textbooks). Furthermore, the ranges of the textbooks and changes from the 7th edition textbooks show a change. Reflecting societal desires, the importance of design has increased in the education curriculum and textbooks. We used different measures to analyze the design capability of instructors. For the elementary school level, we analyzed the design classes in the teacher's college curriculums. For the middle school level, we looked into the teacher certificate examination for art teachers who teach design. The results turned out to be poorer, compared to the increasing importance of design in textbooks. Although the teacher certificate examination has a big influence on the education for both the college and graduate school of education, it has been overlooked. This research attempts to present a solution to this issue.
