디자인사고 과정을 적용한 디자인 교육 프로그램이 유아의 창의성과 정서지능에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the design education program applying the design thinking process on children’s creativity and emotional intelligence. In this study, 42 children aged 4 years old from E kindergarten in G City were selected as subjects of the study, and they were equally divided into a experimental group and a control group. The experimental group developed the design education program applying the design thinking process and performed their activities whereas the control group performed educational activities related to the selected theme. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and covariance analysis(ANCOVA) was performed on the pre-test results of both groups as covariates. The results of this study are as follows. First, the design education program applying the design thinking process had significant effects on some of sub-factors of children’s emotional intelligence. Second, the design education program applying the design thinking process had significant impacts on both children’s emotional intelligence and its sub-factors. These research results suggest that the design education program applying the design thinking process can be used in the area of early childhood education as an effective teaching and learning method to enhance children’s creativity and emotional intelligence.
