Factors Influencing Clinic Choice for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery

Recently the number of cosmetic plastic surgery patients has been rapidly increasing especially in Korea. Patients tend to select clinics with more diverse needs and want to pay the right medical costs with getting high quality services. The purpose of this study is to investigate consumers’ considerations when choosing a clinics for the cosmetic plastic surgery and general primary care. Through analysing clinic choice factors, efficient management strategy for cosmetic plastic surgery clinics would be extracted. The survey was conducted by 248 women experienced cosmetic plastic surgery for three weeks from April 17, 2017 to May 7, 2017. Frequency analysis was conducted to find out respondents’ socio-economic characteristics and cosmetic plastic surgery experiences. By estimating Chronbach alpha, measurement scale for clinic choice factors of cosmetic plastic surgery and general primary care was tested. Moreover, paired t-test was conducted to compare importance of clinic choice factors between cosmetic plastic surgery and general primary care. Frequency analysis showed the distribution of cosmetic plastic surgery experiences. There was a distinct difference between clinic choice factors between cosmetic plastic surgery and general primary care. Depending on the difficulty of cosmetic plastic surgery, there were differences in patients’ clinic choice factors. By investigating adult women who have had plastic surgery in Korea, it is able to elucidate the strategic management factors to secure potential patients when clinics for beauty services are exposed to excessive competition.
