A Study on the Difficulties of Left-Handed on Clinical Education in Dental School: Pre-Dentists' Narrative Study

This narrative inquiry is to explore and to understand the life and learning experiences of left-handed students at dental colleges. Two left-handed students with clinical education experience were selected as research participants, and their own life context and experience were used as field text and transformed to research texts. The researchers collected their narratives and tracked the experiences felt by their lives and learning after entering the dental school of left-handed students and understood some of the things left-handed students experience through interviews with study participants and supplementary materials. Participants in the study said left-handed students should always adapt to the right-handed educational environment and cannot talk about uncomfortable environments and uncomfortable feelings. Also, because they did not learn from a left-handed instructor, learning that utilizes their body itself gains experience. The same goes for learning clinical skills in dental schools. The result of this study can be helpful to left-handed students at dental colleges and dental schools with the same experience and is expected to further be used as basic materials for dental education and clinical research for left-handed students.
