This design development is asked to research by Pyeongwha Office Furniture com pany, which specializes in office furniture manufacturing. The development aims to design a prefabricated open self system with multipurpose usages in libraries, offices, and homes as well. Also, the design purpose to secure design intellectual property rights and make online sales easy in the market. Based on the concepts, the researcher sketched idea, made design drawings and produced a prototype. Since the shelf can be extended by side plates and selves and consequently, it can be reducible and expandable according to places and sizes. Regarding the materials, thick birch glue laminated wood with natural beauty and thin steel plates with a wide range of colors and light sense were used. For the loading and shipping for online sales’sake, kit forms to re duce the volume were invented and patented. Eventually, the completed prototype shelves are on the market after showing in an international furniture exhibition to get consumer feedbacks and revising.
