A study on the Good public-facility design certification to build urban competitiveness

(Research Background and Purpose) As part of efforts to establish urban identity and realize urban design, the cities of Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheongnam-do, and Incheon-si are operating the “The Good Public Facility Design Certification System,” and the selected certified products can use the certification authority during the certification period, and distribute them to various public projects. It also contributes to revitalizing the local economy by securing competitiveness. This study was conducted with the purpose of deriving the degree of overlap of certified products and the contribution of the developer to the local economy by investigating and analyzing the concept and goals of the Good design certification system for public facilities in four cities. It is expected to be used as basic data for the “The Good Public Facility Design Certification System.” (Method) Spatial scope is analyzed based on the standard framework for exceptional design certification systems in the cities. The standard framework is derived through direct participation in the deliberation committee and investigation of the target certification system. The analysis categorizes products in the certification period as of 2021, based on four certification systems, and targets certified products from developers who have three or more certified products. (Result) By comparing and analyzing the products of eights companies, it was found that three companies secured certified products in four certification systems and five companies in three certification systems.it was analyzed as the same product out of 135 certified products to be analyzed. The redundancy was confirmed to be about 9.5% with 13 pieces. As a result of analyzing the location of the developer, it was found that there were many certified products in the location of the company. this means that it is the result of reflecting the efforts of local governments to revitalize local development companies. (Conclusion) As a result of the analysis, it can be concluded that the redundancy of the four certified products was significantly low. This demonstrates that the companies that have developed exceptional design certified products comply with the public design guidelines of each city and strive to constantly transform the shape and develop materials, so that they are considered as non-overlapping products by the certification system. This study analyzes the contents of the certification systems of four local government public facilities that secure the satisfaction and settlement of residents by improving the urban environment and quality of life. It is expected that it will serve as basic data during system maintenance.
