The Study of Adequately Management on Nursing Homes to Reduce Unnecessary Hospitalization Expenses in South Korea

The research will examine the determinants of how businesses providing inpatient care to the elderly inflate costs, then provide insight on possible resolutions by comparing South Korea to other OECD country, United State of America, where the medical fee system was converted in same way with South Korea but experienced different result with Korea. The research will be conducted based on data publicly conducted surveys by National Health Insurance Service, Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service. As a result of the rapid increase in the number of nursing homes over the past decade, it can be inferred that nursing homes are able to accommodate the largest number of patients among existing medical institutions. Furthermore, adequate management of nursing homes may potentially significantly reduce unnecessary hospitalization expenses. In comparison to the United States, South Korea lacks an equitable nursing home system with policies limiting excessive and unnecessary spending. South Korea need to establish dedicated entity which can secured in reviewing payments and management quality of medical services for more nursing homes.
