The purpose of this study is to provide directions and alternatives for establishing effective and efficient ESG management strategies for casino firms in South Korea. The case study is mainly used to verify the issues and problems of casino ESG management in South Korea by assessing the ESG management activities in foreign and domestic casinos. The following strategic suggestions are proposed to achieve the purpose of this study. First, it is suggested that the casino would encourage the employee’s active participation by raising awareness of the ESG importance. Second, The casino would try to implement each sub-dimensions of ESG with balanced practices in terms of reducing social practices and vice versa for environment and governance practices. Third, the customized ESG evaluation index would be developed for the casino industry in South Korea to accomplish widespread ESG management. Forth, the casino ESG consultative group would be launched with Korea Casino Association as a center. Fifth, the establishment of an appropriate compensation system regarding the casino’s ESG management activities is required for both employees and the company aspects. The Final suggestion is that the vulnerability complement strategy is preferred to have better results in ESG management than the merit emphasis strategy. In conclusion, the casino firm in South Korea would consider the proposed directions and alternatives in this study for establishing effective and efficient ESG management strategy for casino firms in South Korea.
