지역주민이 인식하는 지역축제의 ESG 활동이 사회적 자본과 시민의식에 미치는 영향: 임파워먼트의 조절효과를 중심으로

This study aims to investigate the effects of ESG(Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities in regional festivals on local residents' social capital and civic awareness, while examining the moderating effect of empowerment in this process. The Siheung Gaetgol Festival was selected as it is recognized as a representative case implementing ESG practices, particularly in environmental conservation and community engagement. A survey was conducted with 234 residents of Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, who participated in the 19th Siheung Gaetgol Festival. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling(SEM) and hierarchical regression analysis. The study explored existing literature on ESG activities, social capital, civic awareness, and empowerment as the conceptual framework. The results revealed that the festival's ESG activities significantly influenced the formation of social capital, which in turn positively affected the enhancement of civic awareness. Furthermore, empowerment was found to significantly moderate the relationship between social capital and civic awareness. This study contributes to the existing literature by examining ESG activities from local residents' perspective, unlike previous studies that focused mainly on visitors' perceptions. Based on these findings, the study suggests that strengthening ESG activities through regional festivals and promoting resident participation can contribute to the development of local communities.
