본 연구는 급변하는 기술 환경 속에서 생성형 AI 기술의 교육적 활용 가능성을 탐구하고, 시각디자인 교육 분야에서 이를 효과적으로 활용할 방안을 모색하고자 진행되었다. 특히 AI 정보디자인 교과목을 중심으로 기존 교육과정과의 차이점을 분석하고, 효과적인 교육 방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 방법으로는 문헌조사, 설문조사, 도구 분석을 실시했다. 먼저, 국내외 논문, 서적, 기사 등을 통해 생성형 AI 기술의 개념, 유형, 특징을 파악하고, 기술의 장단점과 윤리적 쟁점을 중점적으로 살펴보았다. 다음으로, 시각디자인 분야의 현직 디자이너들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 생성형 AI 도구의 활용 현황과 인식을 조사했다. 마지막으로, 주요 생성형 AI 디자인 도구의 특성과 교육적 활용 가능성을 비교 분석했다. 연구 결과, AI 정보디자인과 기존 정보디자인 교육과정의 주요 차이점으로 데이터 기반의 자동화된 시각화 도구 활용, 알고리즘 이해와 데이터 분석 능력 강화, AI 활용의 적절성과 데이터 처리 능력에 대한 평가 등이 도출되었다. 또한 설문조사를 통해 생성형 AI 도구가 디자인 프로세스의 효율성을 높이고, 특히 아이디어 발상과 초기 디자인 단계에서 창의적 사고를 촉진하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같은 의의를 지닌다. 첫째, 생성형 AI 디자인 도구는 4차 산업혁명 시대에 시각융합디자인 교육에 혁신적 변화를 불러올 잠재력을 보유하고 있다. 둘째, AI 정보디자인 교육과정의 도입은 예술적 감각, 창의적 사고, 디자인 기술, 융합적 사고 등 핵심 역량을 효과적으로 개발할 기회를 제공한다. 셋째, 자기 주도적이고 참여 중심의 교육 환경 조성을 통해 학습 효과를 극대화하고, 미래 시각융합디자인 인재 양성에 기여할 수 있다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 생성형 AI를 활용한 시각융합디자인 교육 방안을 지속해서 발전시켜 나간다면, 학문 발전은 물론 학생, 교육기관, 그리고 시각디자인 산업 전반의 혁신적 성장에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
This study was conducted to explore the educational potential of generative AI technology in the rapidly changing technological environment and to explore ways to effectively utilize it in the field of visual convergence design education, particularly focusing on analyzing differences between existing curriculum and AI Information Design course to suggest effective teaching methods. The research methods included literature review, survey, and tool analysis. Through comprehensive review of domestic and international literature, the study examined the concepts, types, and characteristics of generative AI technology, including its advantages, disadvantages, and ethical implications. A survey was conducted among current designers to understand the utilization and perception of generative AI tools, followed by an analysis of major generative AI design tools and their educational potential. The research findings revealed key differences between AI Information Design and traditional Information design curriculum, including data-driven automated visualization tools, algorithm understanding, and data analysis capabilities. The survey results indicated that generative AI tools improve design process efficiency and promote creative thinking, particularly in ideation and initial design phases. The implications of this study are threefold. First, generative AI design tools have the potential to bring innovative changes to visual convergence design education in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era. Second, the AI Information Design curriculum provides opportunities to develop core competencies such as artistic sensibility, creative thinking, and design skills. Third, establishing a self-directed and participation-oriented educational environment can maximize learning outcomes and nurture future talents. The continuous development of visual convergence design education utilizing generative AI is expected to contribute to academic advancement and the innovative growth of students, educational institutions, and the visual design industry.
