컬러유니버설디자인의 안전색채디자인시스템에 관한 연구 -시설물 적용 사례 분석을 중심으로-

본 연구는 컬러유니버설디자인(Color Universal Design, CUD)의 관점에서 시설물에 적용된 안전색채디자인 시스템 사례를 분석하여, 그 특징과 적용 방향을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 고령자와 외국인의 증가 등 사회적 인구구조 변화에 따라, 안전표지는 더욱 직관적으로 인식될 수 있도록 개선되고, 안전색채 또한 사용자 시각 특성을 반영해 설계되어야 한다. 분석 대상은 장애인 복지관, 지하 통로가 포함된 업무시설, 산업시설물로 구성되며, 각각의 공간은 일상 안전성 확보, 쾌적하고 능률적인 업무환경 조성, 비상대피 안내 기능에 초점을 맞춰 컬러유니버설디자인 기반의 색채디자인이 적용되었다. 사례 분석 결과, 컬러유니버설디자인의 주요 요소들이 반영되어 안전색채디자인이 개선되었으나, 각 시설물의 기능과 환경에 따라 안전색채디자인의 적용 방식에는 차이가 있었다. 적용 현장 모두에서 사용자 설문을 통해 만족도가 크게 향상된 것으로 확인하였다. 이를 통해 시설물의 특성에 맞춘 맞춤형 안전색채디자인 시스템의 필요하다는 결론이 도출되었으며, 향후 연구에서는 다양한 시설 사례를 추가로 분석해, 시설 유형별 안전색채 가이드라인을 제안하고자 한다. 본 연구는 모두가 안전하게 생활할 수 있는 사회 구축에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
This study analyzes safety color design systems in various facilities through the lens of Color Universal Design (CUD). With a growing elderly and foreign population, safety signs must be intuitive and inclusive. Facilities analyzed include a welfare center, a workplace with an underground passage, and an industrial site. Each applied CUD-based color design to improve daily safety, work efficiency, or emergency evacuation. Key CUD principles enhanced the visibility and clarity of safety colors in all cases. Application methods varied depending on facility function and environment. User surveys showed significantly increased satisfaction after implementation. Findings highlight the need for customized safety color systems per facility type. Future research will broaden the scope to additional facility categories. The goal is to propose safety color guidelines tailored to each environment. This study supports safer, more inclusive public spaces for all users. It also provides a foundational reference for universal design in safety color planning.
