초록
The disability grade assigned under Korea’s industrial accident compensation system critically influences the long-term job retention of injured workers. In this study, we examined the independent effect of disability grade on job retention among workers who have already returned to work. We applied a binary logistic regression-based control algorithm for gender and age on five-year data acquired from the Panel Study of Workers’ Compensation Insurance (PSWCI, 2018–2022; N = 3,294). The obtained results were counterintuitive—workers with severe disability grades (4–7), women, and older workers (≥60) exhibited significantly high probabilities of long-term job retention. These findings may be influenced by panel-attrition bias, whereby younger and less severely injured workers are more prone to panel dropout. This study underscores the importance of accounting for attrition in longitudinal research on injured workers. Policies should support rehabilitation and strengthen long-term tracking systems, particularly for groups that are often considered less vulnerable.
