특성화고 학생들의 대학 적응도: 상경계열 학과를 중심으로

This study empirically compared and analyzed the level of college life adaptation between graduates of specialized high schools and general high schools enrolled in the business and economics departments at D University, located in the Seoul metropolitan area. The analysis focused on key indicators such as academic achievement (earned credits and GPA), participation in extracurricular programs, and dropout rates. The results showed no statistically significant difference in academic achievement between the two groups, suggesting that specialized high school graduates possess sufficient academic competence and adaptability required for college-level studies. In contrast, specialized high school students demonstrated higher participation rates and engagement in extracurricular activities, reflecting stronger self-directed learning attitudes and motivation for career exploration. Although their retention rate was relatively higher and their dropout rate lower, the differences were not statistically significant. These findings imply that universities should strengthen tailored academic support systems and mentoring programs to further promote the academic potential and persistence of specialized high school students. This study provides valuable empirical evidence for future university admission and educational support policies amid declining school-age populations and changing higher education environments. Nevertheless, the study is limited by its focus on a single university and specific academic field, indicating the need for follow-up research across diverse regions, universities, and disciplines.
