초록
This study presents scenarios regarding highly possible strategic plans that domestic insurers can adopt from a macroscopic viewpoint due to the introduction of Bancassurance in August, 2003. In case of large insurers, making contracts of the exclusive agency or independent agency with good banks would be possible options to be taken in a short run. In a long run, maintaining existing agency contracts with good banks, making capital alliance with good banks, establishing joint venture with good banks, acquiring existing insurers and establishing insurance subsidiaries specializing in a specific marketing channel would be plausible options to be taken by large insurers. In case of small insurers, making contracts of the independent agency with any banks would be only possible in a short and long run. The most favorable strategic plans that large insurers can adopt due to the introduction of Bancassurance would be establishing joint venture with good banks or establishing insurance subsidiaries specializing in a specific marketing channel with maintaining exiting agency contracts with good banks. It is expected that the introduction of any kinds of Bancassurance will be a big burden to small insurers. Therefore, small insurers should try hard to develop niche markets with pursuing independent agency contracts with any banks.
