The Mediating Effect of job Satisfaction and Self-Efficacy in the Relationships Between Dispositional Traits and Turnover Intention.

This study examined the relationships between turnover intention and positive affectivity and negative affectivity, and the mediating roles of job satisfaction and self-efficacy in those relationships. The data was collected from 235 office workers in 20 large corporations. This study measured the mediating effect of job satisfaction and self-efficacy using the three-step mediated regression approach (Baron and Kenny, 1986). The result of this study is summarized as followings. First, regressions showed that positive affectivity strongly related to turnover intention, and negative affectivity also significant affected to turnover intention. Second, the job satisfaction exactly mediated the relationships between the positive affectivity and turnover intention, between negative affectivity and turnover intention. The self-efficacy mediated the relationships between the positive affectivity and turnover intention, but didn't mediate the relationships between negative affectivity and turnover intention. These results suggests that positive affectivity shows more strong relationship than negative affectivity to the mediated variables and turnover intention.
