전기전자 기업의 GSCM 도입에 관한 사례 연구

The Case Study of Global SCM in the Korean Electronic Corporations

Global companies require a speedy decision making process and flexibility in order for them to keep competitive advantages in such vulnerable 21st century global business environment. Global firms do not limit material souring and information gathering activities to their domestic markets only. Rather, they extend it to more than two countries and seek sales & marketing activity worldwide. Through the integration of vendors and customers, they reduce distribution cost, increase the quality of service, eliminate possible business uncertainty, and pursue management efficiency, all of which contribute for strengthening company competitiveness. Global companies operate manufacturing facilities, sales and marketing offices, and distribution centers worldwide. And they also adopt GSCM (Global Supply Chain Management) that manages information exchange and network operation between global suppliers and customers. With help of this system in place, they create value added products and services, minimize distribution cost, and lead to magnifying customer satisfaction. I have concluded the following results from some case studies for GSCM. Through GSCM execution, advanced global companies 1) maximized customer satisfaction via shorter lead time and speedier delivery, 2) achieved cost competitiveness by reducing stock cost management, 3) reduced distribution cost further by strategic out-sourcing practice. The limitation of this study was that there are not many domestic firms practicing the system and they are in only early stage of introducing GSCM at the moment. Therefore, we are in lack of enough practical data to refer to. However, because there is strong demand for GSCM implementation for global corporations, learning from successful GSCM implementation of some advanced foreign global companies would provide critical insight for Korean firms to pursue their future strategic movement.
