유니폼디자인 개선 과정에 나타난 조형요소 선호 사례 연구 -국립경찰대학생 하정복 디자인을 중심으로-

1980년에 설립된 국립경찰대학은 행정자치부장관 산하의 4년제 대학으로 2003년 현재까지 총 2,173명의 엘리트 경찰 간부를 배출한 특수 대학이다. 이러한 특수성의 관점에서 학생들이 공히 착용해야하는 유니폼은 특정집단의 정체성과 상징성을 표출하는 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 그러나 개교이래 20여년간 변화 없이 착용되어진 유니폼에 관해 경찰대학 스스로의 판단에 의한 새로운 개선이 요구되어지는 시점에서 미래사회에 부응 할 수 있는 참신한 유니폼디자인의 제시가 필요하게 되었다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 1차적으로 현실적 개선이 가능한 경찰대학생 하정복 디자인의 개선안을 최종적으로 실물 복제의 제시를 통해 도출함에 있어서 제복착용의 주체인 경찰대학생도들의 직접적인 참여를 통해 조형요소들에 관한 선호 과정을 고찰하고자 하였다. 2001년 11월부터 2개월간 진행되어 결정된 개선 복제는 2002년 경찰대학자체조사 및 착용실시여부등에 관한 최종 결정과정을 통해 2003년 6월부로 실용화되기에 이르렀다. 실용화 목적의 최종실물복제를 도출하기 위한 연구진행과정은 제복착용의 주체인 학생들 스스로가 선호조형요소를 채택함으로서 구체적 디자인 안에 보다 가까이 접근하여 직접 결정할 수 있도록 하였으며, 이렇게 배려된 총 세 차례의 프레젠테이션 실시방법은, 결과적으로 최종결정안에 대해 대다수의 학생들이 매우 큰 만족도를 보여준 요인이 되었다. 통합된 이미지의 구축, 차별화된 상징성, 고급화 및 기능화를 지양하며 학생들 스스로에 의해 채택된 경찰대학생 신규 하정복의 착용이 2003년을 기해 결정되었다는 점에서 본 연구는 의의가 있다하겠다.
Abstract
National Police Academy was founded in 1980 and students in the academy have constantly worn the same costume for 20 years. This research has a purpose to show newly and fresh summer design of formal uniform by the time of requiring modification of it, Also,This research has a purpose to show how the preferable design elements were selected by students themselves spontaneously.Detailed methods were as follows:1. Establish a direction of design to be adopted from open-survey or visit-survey2. Research preference of 3 proposals with preferable design elements out of 24 proposals from 6 types by design sketch3. Examine wearing-status of 3 actual costume and choose preferable design elements4. Choose 1 final proposal preferable design elements and present the epaulette designFinal costume was choosed on the basis of a 2-month study from October to December in 2001. The characteristics of final summer costume were as follows:1. Unified design image was established by applying the same color used in fall costume to it.2. Distinctive symbol from other groups was given to it.3. Dignity was established by high-quality materials.4. Functional image was improved by using elastic material, minimized epaulette, and pocket for cellular phone.Furthermore, it is going to be of practical use from June 10, 2003.With this viewpoint, this research obviously show meaningful work.
