The purpose of this research was to develop a model designed to evaluate three stages of an event namely: event influence, event impact, and the success level. The underlying dimension of each stage were identified, using a factor analysis. Then, a regression analysis was employed to evaluate the proposed model: the relationship between influence factors and impact factors, and the relationship between impact factors and the success lev The results of the regression analysis show that in general, the event influence factors were significantly related to the event impact factors, indicating that the former had an influence on the latter, positively or negatively. The results also indicate that the impact factors were significantly related to the success level. The findings imply that local residents were more likely to evaluate the success level of an event according to whether the event contributed to the economy and improved the local image. The findings also imply that the results might support a social exchange theory.
