Determinants of Intention to Use Internet Banking: Social Influence, Perceived Risk and Individual DifferencesLee, Min-Hwa*Internet banking as a new channel to provide customers with banking services may influence the productivity and competitive power of banks. This study suggests an extended model of TAM and examines the effects of social influence, perceived risk, and individual difference on the intention to use internet banking services. Based on the responses from 128 internet banking users, the results show that social influence is positively related to perceived usefulness and intention to use internet banking, self-efficacy is positively related to perceived ease of use, personal innovativeness influences positively perceived ease of use and intention to use, and perceived ease of use is positively related to perceived usefulness which also has a positive impact on intention to use. Perceived risks, however, are not significantly related to perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use has no statistically significant effect on the intention to use internet banking. The study results would improve the understanding of psychological variables to which bank managers should pay attention in order to increase use of internet banking services.
