초록
This report presents a new techno-economic modeling for the portable internet (PI) service. The proposed modeling focuses on the profitability of the PI service using 2.3GHz bandwidth in Korea. Due to inherent uncertainty in technologies and demand, conventional techno-economic modeling is not an appropriate choice for analyzing the service market. Accordingly, we propose a new risk modeling to deal with uncertain nature of the market dynamics. We develop a cost model of the PI service, while devising a revenue model by proposing a new set of applications for the PI service. The final output of cost modeling consists of capital expenditure and operational expenditure. On the other hand, revenue modeling requires a precise forecast of the growth pattern of potential subscriber for the PI service. The proposed business case analysis includes a realistic scenario set of possible market development over the next 15 years. The main driver of the market scenarios is the decision of network coverage. We propose three sets of service coverage plan: (1) Seoul metro area, (2) Six major cities, and (3) 30 Cities in Korea. Then, we generate the techno-economic analysis for each scenario and provide a valuable insight with a sensitivity analysis.
