본 연구는 중력모형을 이용하여 한국의 무역패턴과 동북아경제통합체의 효과를 분석하고 이를 통하여 정책적 시사점을 도출하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 분석방법에 있어서는 이전의 대부분의 분석에서 사용된 횡단면분석의 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 횡단면자료와 시계열자료를 통합한 패널자료를 사용하여 분석을 시도하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저 한국의 무역패턴은 거의 중력모형이론과 일치하였다. 즉 한국의 무역은 경제규모의 크기와 비례하며 지리적 거리와는 반비례하였으나 1인당 소득규모에 대해서는 명확한 결론을 도출하기 어려웠다. 동북아 지역경제통합체의 효과는 유의적이지는 않지만 정의 효과를 나타내어 향후 이들 지역간의 교역량의 확대 및 경제통합체의 성공가능성을 암시하였다. 이러한 결과들이 시사하는 바는 한국의 경우 우선적으로 시장규모가 크고 지리적으로 근접한 국가와의 무역을 확대해 나가는 한편, 현재 추진하고 있는 동북아경제협력체 등의 지역경제통합체에 대한 적극적 참여와 특히 동북아국가들간의 경제협력체의 조속한 출범에 대한 적극적인 노력이 필요할 것으로 보인다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze trade pattern of Korea, factor influencing on Korea trade, the effect of economic integration of East-North Asia based on gravity model and to induce policy suggestion The method of analysis is panel data analysis unlike that of many different studies. The result of analysis is as follows: The trade pattern of Korea is almost consistent with the theory of gravity model. In other words, it is revealed that the increase of GDP gives rise to the increase of the size of trade. And the distance between the trade countries have a negative effect on size of trade. But the effect of per income is not a clear. The effect of local economic integration on trade of Korea is a positive but statistically insignificant. We expect the possibility that regional economic integration has trade creation effect and make trade increased in East-North Asia.
