칸트에 있어서 ‘양심’의 의미 ―‘양심의 자유’와 관련하여―

'Conscience' which is discussed in the question of <Conscientious objection to Military Service> is mainly mentioned in terms of a personal belief, freedom and right in Korea today. Then, there are some opinions that conscience should be guaranteed as absolute worth. But, if conscience is regarded as related to an objective order of life beyond only a subjective self-confidence, it can not avoid to be under certain restrictions. In relation to this issue, we can find a typical argument in Kant and Hegel. Especially, the meaning of conscience in Kant which Hegel understood was a extremely subjective self-confidence. Accordingly, it was interpreted as lacking objectivity. Hegel criticized that in Kantian concept of conscience as a deepest inner self-solitude all externalities and restrictions disappeared. That is to say, he asserted modern conception of conscience was entirely a self-immersion. But whether Kantian conception of conscience is only a subjectivism and a simple self-confidence or not is in need of more sufficient investigation. Therefore, this paper aims at clarifying that Kantian conception of conscience is not merely self-confidence of a subject but contains some objective contents. As a result, I will consider the connotation of conscience in Kant in relation to the question of our Conscientious objection to Military Service.
