Development of graphic design in Busan unfolded with local limitations. Busan was introduced with print technology during Japanese occupation and grew through a quickening period to set its graphic sights toward the American culture. Graphic design studies curriculum was established in universities during the animated development period, and faced with the rapidly changing personal computer-based information-design era, regional specialization came to being in response to Busan's multimedia environment.The term 'graphic design' amidst multimedia shared the word 'information' and was the cause of rapid changes in design environment and method. Information-design reformed the range and areas covered by graphic design by surpassing its limitations. Information-design expands experiences of man and became a vast cultural activity that forms cultural contents and technologies. Consequently, design development in Busan also demands designs based on the internet. Extending Busan's geographical and cultural distinctions to new program development in reflection of graphic design trends that are transforming design policy and direction will serve as basis for creating both Busan's image and culture.
