한국 반도체산업의 무역구조와 국제경쟁력 분석

본 연구에서는 1980년대 이후 급성장한 한국 반도체산업을 대상으로 성장과정을 살펴보고 국제경쟁력의 변화를 분석하고 있다. 산업자료를 이용해 반도체산업의 성장과정을 살펴보고, 무역자료를 이용해 무역량 변화와 무역구조 및 경쟁력의 변화에 대해 분석하였다. 반도체산업의 생산액은 1991-2002년 사이 연평균 7.8%의 높은 성장률을 보이고 있으며 사업체 수나 종업원의 수도 높은 수준의 성장률을 기록하고 있다. 또한 수출입액에 있어서도 2003년 기준 수출에 있어서는 1위를, 수입에 있어서는 2위를 기록하고 있다. 우리나라의 반도체부문 주요교역국은 미국, 일본 등이며 기타 아시아 국가들과의 교역량도 높은 수준이다. 반도체산업의 국제경쟁력을 살펴보기 위해 수출시장 점유율, 무역특화지수, 그리고 현시비교우위지수를 살펴보았다. 미국시장 점유율에 있어서는 15.5%로 일본에 이어 2위를 기록하고 있으며, 기간동안 꾸준한 증가세를 기록하고 있다. 반도체산업은 1990년대 이전에는 수입에 특화된 산업으로 나타났으나 1991년 이후 수출산업으로 나타났다. 현시비교우위지수를 통해 살펴본 산업 경쟁력에서는 우리나라 반도체산업이 전체산업에 비해 3배 이상 경쟁력이 있는 산업으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This study analyses the growth and competitiveness of Korean Semiconductor industry which grow rapidly since 1980. I used Korean National Statistic database for industry data include production, employment, wage, and also used Korean Trade Association database and World Trade database for analysis trade structure and international competitiveness. The production of semiconductor industry grow average 7.8% per year, and the number of firm and employment grow rapidly. And also the export and import volume of this industry is higher than any other industry. To analysis the international competitiveness of semiconductor, I calculate MSI(Market Share Index), TSI(Trade specialization Index), and RCA(Revealed Comparative Advantage) during 1984 to 2000. U.S. Market Share of semiconductor industry grade 15.5% and grow continuously during the period. And as per the TSI, it shows that semiconductor industry is import industry before 1990, but it changed export industry in 1990s. RCA index shows that Korean semiconductor industry is 3 times more competitive than total industries
