벤처기업의 성과 결정요인에 관한 실증연구

초록
본 연구는 국내 벤처기업의 성과를 결정하는 요인들을 통합된 연구 틀 안에서 규명해 보고자 하는 목적으로 실시되었다. 이를 위하여, 벤처기업의 성과 결정요인에 관한 초기 연구들의 초점이었던 창업가 개인에 관한 요인을 포함하여 조직 및 자원, 전략 및 창업과정, 산업환경, 외부지원시스템을 독립변수로 하고 주관적 성과, 매출성과, 순이익 성과 등 성과변수를 종속변수로 하는 연구 모형을 구축하고 110개의 벤처기업의 경영진을 대상으로 실시한 설문결과의 다중회귀분석을 통해 연구 모형을 검정하였다.분석결과, 내부 요인으로는 창업자/팀의 역량 중 경영관리능력과 산업전문능력, 조직/자원 영역에서 자원조달능력, 기술확보능력 그리고 전략/창업과정 영역의 체계적 창업과정 수행이 성과에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또 외부요인으로는 시장규모 정부정책 등 긍정적 산업 환경과 외부지원시스템 활용 또한 벤처기업의 성과에 있어서 정(+)의 영향요인으로 작용하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 전체적으로 보아 외부요인이 벤처기업의 성과에 더 큰 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 판단된다.이에 반하여 창업자의 위험감수성향, 임직원능력, 확고한 경영전략 등은 벤처기업의 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 사업아이템의 혁신성은 오히려 성과에 부정적인 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 아이템혁신성이 대부분의 경우 미성숙시장을 의미하므로 단기적으로 성과 시현이 어려운 점과 또한 경영진의 아이템에 대한 과도한 기대에 따른 실망에 기인한 것으로 여겨진다. 본 연구는 표본수의 부족 등 실증 연구를 한계를 가지고 있지만 통합된 연구 틀 안에서 국내 벤처기업의 성과 결정요인을 제시하는데 그 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the determinants of new venture performance in the view of integrated research framework. To set up research model, the previous researches on new venture performance model has been examined thoroughly. We propose the integrated model with the independent variables of entrepreneur, organization/resources, industrial environment, strategy/foundation process and availability of supporting systems. The determinants of new venture performance are identified through the multiple regression analysis with the data gathered from 110 executives of venture companies. The results show that entrepreneur's managerial ability and industry expertise, level of firm's resource and technology, systematic foundation process, opportunities of industrial environments and availability of supporting systems affect positively performance of ventures, whereas, potential of business items affects negatively. Though this study has limitation of small sample, limited questionnaire and performance measure, it has contribution of identifying determinants of new venture performance with the integrated frame of study.
