벤처기업 입지와 고급노동력의 공간적 분포에 관한 연구

Recent interest of venture business studies has shifted from industry to occupation and to CEO's and employees' social and economic characteristics. Those studies report that educated workers (or workforce) are more active in creating venture businesses than other less educated workers. Therefore, researchers pay special attention to the geographic pattern of educated workers (or workforce) who succeed in creating and managing venture businesses. This paper is designed in this context, and it depends on two kinds of data: one is venture business location data from the Venture Business Association, and the other is population statistics from the Korea Census. Analysis of those data shows some outcomes and implications. First, Kyonggi-do is the most active province in Korea in creating venture businesses. It is not because educated workers come to Kyonggi-do, but educated workers who are highly entrepreneurial come to this province. Second, Daejeon and Chungchongnam-do are also very active in creating venture businesses in comparison with their ratios of educated workers. Incheon, Seoul, and Chungchongbuk-do are over the national average level of creating venture businesses. Third, other regions except these central regions, are very weak in creating venture businesses, considering their propositions of educated workers. It is imperative for cental and local governments to build urgent policy initiatives for bolstering regional entrepreneurship. Such policy initiatives should include strategies for attracting R&D infrastructure and R&D personnels.
