부엌디자인 사례연구를 중심으로 살펴본 유니버설디자인의 전개방향에 관한 연구

유니버설 디자인은 베리어 프리(barrier-free), 수용 가능한(adaptive), 평생의 디자인(life-span design)의 세 개념을 포함한다. 그것은 단순히 장애가 있는 사람들을 위한 접근성 차원의 디자인이라기보다는 확장된 개념으로서 인간이 접하는 모든 물리적 환경이나 시설들을 접근하기 쉽고 사용하기 편하도록 디자인하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 그러한 유니버설디자인의 현재와 미래 방향을 부엌디자인의 사례를 중심으로 조망해 보았다. 문헌상의 디자인지침과 사례들에서 살펴본 현재 시장의 추이와 선행연구들의 특징들에서 살펴본 시대적 추이를 토대로 제안한다면, 향후 유니버설 부엌디자인은 ‘사용자에 따른 대량맞춤’, ‘신기술의 적용’, ‘심리적 측면의 고려’ 등의 방향으로 전개되어야 할 것이다. 또한 유니버설디자인이 확산되기 위해서는 ‘적절한 경제적 비용문제의 해결’, ‘사회적 인식의 확산’, 디자인에 있어 ‘문제인식의 전환’이 있어야 할 것으로 판단된다. 아직 우리나라에서는 유니버설디자인개념의 디자인 모델들이 여러 분야에서 양산되고 있는 실정은 아니다. 앞으로 우리나라 상황에 적합한 유니버설디자인을 개발연구하기 위해서는 물리적, 지각적, 심리적 측면뿐만 아니라 우리의 문화적, 지역적 특성도 감안되어야 할 것이다.
Abstract
Universal design contains three concepts: barrier-free, adaptive, life-span design. It is more expanded concept rather than accessible design for the disabled and helps to make easy access, comfortable use in all physical environments or facilities. In this study, a researcher looks out over present and future directions in universal design focused on the case studies of kitchen design. Based on with the change of market in design guidelines, cases and the change of times in the characteristics of past studies, this researcher suggests that universal design would be developed on considering mass customization for personalized users, application of new technology and psychological aspects. Additionally, for the diffuseness of universal design it is needed that appropriate solution in economical cost problem, social recognition and conversion of problem cognizance in designing. In Korea it is not conditions to produce design models of universal design concept in various parts. Hereafter, in order to develop and to study universal design which suits to our country some cultural, regional characteristics will be considered as well as physical, perceptual, psychological aspects.
