Constitutional Significance and Problems of the Judge Impeachment Process in JapanLee, Sang-YoonNow in Japan, theoretical reexamination about judge impeachment process as a democratic control for the judicial branch is demanded with the flow of judicial system reform. The purpose of this study is to clarify the significance of judge impeachment process in Japanese Constitution, importance characteristic and some problems or suggestions that the Japanese judge impeachment process holds now. The important contents are as follows.The second chapter describes constitutional significance of the Japanese judge impeachment process and the inalienable right to choose and dismiss public officials, constitutional relations of the impeachment system with the Diet, and control for abuse of impeachment authority. The third chapter presents some suggestions and problems that the Judge Impeachment Court and the Impeachment Committee hold in Japanese constitution now.The judge impeachment system that Japanese constitution prescribes is an important system in support of "rule of law", and it has the meaning as a judicial participation system of the nation. Therefore, I reaffirm the constitutional significance of Japanese judge impeachment system such as control for the judicial branch of the Diet, democratic control for the judicial power, judiciary fairness and security of trust for justice, and expect use and reform of the desirable system based on constitutional basic principles from now.
