The Characteristics of Start-up Business and Corporate Finance in Japan

Japanese economy has suffered from economic depression during the lost decade when new start-ups was decreased. With the circumstances, the policy focused to buster new businesses as a significant pillar of small and medium sized policy. The purpose of this paper is to examine the relation between corporate finance and entrepreneur's characteristics in Japanese new businesses, putting stress on investigate the determinants of lending of commercial banks to the businesses.. This study is mainly conducted by (Logit and OLS)regressionanalysiswiththedata-setthatagovernmentfinancial institution, National Life Finance Cooperation (NLFC), surveyed in 2004 and SSJDA of Institute of Social Science at The University of Tokyo coded. The result demonstrates that medical & welfare related field dummy, company size and establisher's education level are significant factors for bank lending to start-ups.
