Examining Organizational Determinants of Contingent Worker Use from Resource Dependence Perspective

This paper examines the organizational determinants of contingent worker use in Korean organizations from the resource dependence perspective. I argue that to obtain flexibility in using internal workforce and to reduce overdependence on the regular workers, organizations have become motivated to use contingent workers. Organizational characteristics chosen are proportion of unionized workers and organizational size. The results indicate support for the hypotheses. In discussion and conclusions, I summarize and discuss the findings further.
