비영리 사회복지조직에서의 책임성은 무엇을 의미하는가?- 책임성의 주체, 대상 및 확보방안을 중심으로 -

As nonprofit social service organizations have been an essential part in social service deliverly system, there has been increased demands for accountability from a variety of stakeholders, including government, donors, clients, and even the public. This study explores various concepts of accountability and diverse ways to strength accountability in nonprofit social service organizations which current studies have used with different meanings. This study suggests that not only social service organizations, but also government be accountable to diverse stakeholders of social service organizations. In addition, accountability should be secured both by external control mechanisms and by internal management mechanisms. However, current studies on nonprofit organizations in Korea did not concern accountability as a major issue, and some of them focused on only one aspect of accountability, mostly legal, hierarchical or compliance accountability. This study has implications in providing in-depth understanding of diverse concepts of accountability and a practical base of strategic choice of nonprofit social service organizations to enhance accountability, which ultimately contributes to improve welfare of service beneficiaries and the public.
