생명윤리의 형법적 보호: 최근의 논의상황

The issues of research involving stem cells derived from human embryos, genetic information, GMO, PGD(preimplantation genetic diagnosis), and some biotech-related topics are increasingly the subject of a national debate and daily tea table discussions. The issues are confronted every day in laboratories as scientists ponder the ethical ramifications of their work. The issues are debated within the church, with people of different faiths, even many of the same faith coming to different conclusions. Of these issues, the human embryonic stem cell is the one of top concerns. Scientists believe further research using stem cells offers great promise that could help the lives of those who suffer from many terrible diseases, while research on embryonic stem cells raises profound ethical questions. Ethics comes with believing that each of these embryos is unique, with the unique genetic potential of an individual human being. In recent years, we learned that scientists have created social risks forcing us to think through these issues very carefully. Most of bioethical issues are at the leading edge of a series of moral hazards. Sometimes we may face that it is needed to prevent some wrong-doing before becoming huge criminal behaviour. Certain criminal policy must be designed to analyse the science-related crimes. Especially, it is true that a society has very weak regulations on biotechnology and life science like ours.
