폭력조직의 생존기반에 관한 연구

This study started from the beliefs that two characteristic dimension of our society itself has contributed to the parasitic dwelling and rapid expansion of the violent criminal organizations in the community; (1) there exist numerous resources in our community that enable the violent criminal organizations to accumulate much amount of money easily, (2) some portions of the people in our community, in reality, maintain or keep close symbiotic relation with violent criminal organizations, regardless of their actual intents. For research purpose, "Organized violence" was operationally defined to explain the deviant unlawful behaviors utilized by violent gangsters in groups in the form of verbal threats or physical violence, or intervening into benefit-oriented conflicts, illegal business, public tender competition, illegal brokerage, exclusive supply of specific goods, disregard of official process, or contract violence, resulting in illegal income finally possessed by violent criminal organizations. In Chapter Ⅱ, the author examined various dimensions of common resources that enables the organized criminal organizations to survive by providing sufficient nutritions necessary for their long run and daily life. In Chapter Ⅲ, the author examined the present situations of the community in which some portion of the residents, in reality, protect the violent criminal organizations by hesitating to report their victimization to police or voluntarily keeping symbiotic relations with them. In Chapter Ⅳ, instead of conclusion, the author briefly summarized the implications stemmed from scientific analysis of empirical data into nine categories.
