다국적기업의 투자대상국내 거래 네트워크 구축 노력과 후속투자간 관계에 관한 실증분석

본 연구에서는 한국시장에 투자한 외국인투자기업들의 후속투자 결정요인이 무엇인가를 거래 네트워크 구축 측면에서 살펴보고 있다. 기존 연구들은 주로 투자대상국 환경요인과 모기업요인에 대한 고려 하에 후속투자 결정요인이 무엇인가를 규명하는데 초점을 두고 있다. 본 연구에서는 자회사 특유적 요인에 대한 고려 하에 후속투자 결정요인을 살펴보고 있다. 특히 조직간 네트워크 관점을 통해 자회사들이 투자대상국내 네트워크를 통해 자회사 특유적인 학습을 하게 되고, 이러한 학습효과가 외국인투자기업의 후속투자에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 것을 실증분석 하고 있다. 후속투자 결정요인 관련 분석 결과를 살펴보면, 시장진입 초기에 독자구축 거래원 수를 많이 확보한 기업일수록, 그리고 시장진입초기 모기업의 선행투자 기업과 거래관계를 맺는 기업일수록 후속투자 가능성이 높은 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 글로벌 거래원과의 연계성은 후속투자 결정에 아무런 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 기타 변수의 경우 모기업의 투자경험이 많을수록, 자회사가 연구집약도 수준이 높을수록, 그리고 자회사에 대한 모기업의 실행의지가 클수록 후속투자 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 투자금액으로 측정한 자회사에 대한 모기업 실행의지도 후속투자결정에 유의한 정의 효과를 갖는 것으로 나타나, 자회사에 대한 실행의지가 높을수록 후속투자 가능성이 높게 나타난다는 기존의 연구결과를 다시 한번 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
This research identifies the variables that influence Sequential Investment decision of MNCs in Korea. Looking at the results of analysis of sequential investments, In the initial stages of entering the market, companies that secured many internal trading relationships, whose holding companies had active experience in other industries, and that invested heavily in R&D, tended to make more sequential investments. Also, the experience of the holding company in other industries has a positive effect, in that this experience serves as an important base for future investments. In the automobile industry, companies with many client firm linkages, major intra-firm trading relationships, and high R&D expenditures made more sequential investments. On the other hand, in the semiconductor and electrontube industries, linkages with client firms or former holding company invested companies were less a predictor of sequential investments than establishment of intra-firm trading relationships when initially entering the market and the active experience of the holding company in other industries.
